By completing quests, you level up your characters and earns items to unlock new characters, items and equipment. And speaking of characters: Leveling them up happens on a variety of fronts. Not only can you level up characters’ strength, combat abilities and dexterity, you can also level up your relationships with characters through “character points,” too! These points are earned by conversing with characters in town, which unlocks new interactions and storylines unique to them, which in turn allows you to earn even more items and currency. Score!

Story & Characters

But aside from items, currency and quests, why should you spend time chatting with the characters of DanMachi Memoria Freese? Earning character points doesn’t just unlock items — it unlocks character voice messages, costumes and new dialogue, too! And the Japanese voice acting is fantastic, bringing DanMemo’s 2D sprites to life thanks to the voice actors’ spirited line delivery.

Cool as that is, interacting with characters in-game actually has an even more important benefit: Widening the world of DanMachi as a whole. Although some of the stories in DanMachi Memoria Freese retread the scenarios we all know and love from the first season of DanMachi, one of DanMemo’s greatest strengths is the amount of worldbuilding it accomplishes. The game even spends time with characters who don’t get spotlit as much as POV-characters like Bell and Hestia.
